Literature Text

I know why the caged bird sings
Its beautiful cacophony
Resplendent in its shining sea
Of shackled majesty

I know why the caged bird sings
While pinioned wings forbid it fly
And no one bends ear to its cries
Or sees the teardrops in its eyes

I know why the caged bird sings
Behind its gilded bars of gaol
Of fantasy; the longing tales
Of freedom show in every trill

I know why the caged bird sings:
It sings because it cannot scream
Should be I know why the caged bird sings but the character limit cuts the last letter. Wrote this one in math class today after running into emotional difficulty. Emotional difficulty makes a good inspiration, if one predisposed to angst.

Like always, comments/crit much loved.

"I know why the caged bird sings
While pinioned wings forbid it fly"

and especially

"I know why the caged bird sings:
It sings because it cannot scream"

 Hooray for boring math classes!
