sonnet 10
the sunlight will not break through banks of cloud
to cast sun's glory over all the earth,
to burn through fog that forms the heaven's shroud,
to highlight it as golden, having worth.
the rain will fall to dye the earth in grey
and smother sounds beneath its liquid veil
until no difference between night and day
can be seen in earth's valleys, hills and vales.
the sun will fight to reclaim golden throne
and buffeted by thundering and wind,
will fall to knees, head bowed, on solemn stone
as loser's punishment will soon begin.
the sun, bright gold and glorious, will fall
before the storm, so bitter and so dull.

I can't recall the story behind this one, either. My memory deserts me. It may have just been my cynical streak showing through again.
